Although we're in different industries, we've always felt aligned with Maguire. For years, we've followed their colourful journey to deliver high end and fairly priced shoes designed in Montreal.
When they reached out to our custom studio to create a candle in time for Mother's Day, it was a no-brainer. We couldn't be more excited to announce that JARO will now be the signature scent at Maguire, and available in a beautiful vessel on their ecommerce.
To celebrate the launch, we chatted with co-founder Myriam about how she'll be burning the candle outside of the store, 90s mall culture, the best wedding shoes, & more.
LOHN: Why did you choose to partner up with LOHN to bring the candle to life?
MYRIAM: Since women's empowerment are always at the heart of what we do, it was natural for us to develop our fragrance through a Canadian company owned by women.
LOHN: What does JARO smell like to you?
MYRIAM: To us, the smell of JARO is reminiscent of a sunny afternoon spent with good friends and good drinks during summertime.
LOHN: If the Maguire x LOHN Candle was a shoe, what would it be?
MYRIAM: The Orange Minori, of course!
LOHN: The Maguire x LOHN Candle will be burning in all your stores — what does a signature scent mean to you?
MYRIAM: We really wanted an ophthalmic experience rooted in a fresh, clean and light scent that reflected the brand experience we want to offer our customers. Growing up in the 90’s, I remember that all Abercrombie Stores had a signature scent, and it really helped amplify the overall brand experience. It made me realize how important it is for a brand to have a specific smell associated with its identity.
LOHN: Is there a signature Maguire shoe?
LOHN: Outside of the stores, how do you plan on incorporating the candle into your day-to-day?
MYRIAM: There will definitely be one in our kitchen! My partner and I love to cook, so candles are a must in our kitchen to mitigate any strong odors caused by our cooking.
