My name is Ada. I am the co-founder and CEO of Nala, a natural and organic body care brand that formulates high-quality, efficacious products while encouraging deep self-care. Nala was created in honour of my father, Alan, who passed away from cancer. His name spelled backwards became the name of the brand, and his story continues to inspire the work we do every day.

I was born in Novi Sad, Serbia and immigrated to Canada when I was 3 years old during the Yugoslavian civil war. Growing up in an immigrant family instilled values of hard work, resilience, and openness. Both of my parents are entrepreneurial, which shaped the way I see possibility and inspired me to think about my own career less linearly.

Sitting in silence with myself. Sometimes this looks like meditation, but often it’s simply stillness that allows my mind to expand. Writing or walking often follows, but silence is always the start.

Being at my grandparents’ apartment.
