Creative Community Issue #2: Amplifying Artists with Nuria Madrenas

We're about a week out from the launch of our latest project—a capsule dreamt up in collaboration with Tacit, an online gallery and art consultancy founded by Nuria Madrenas.

Gearing up to the launch (on February 6th! Marks those cals!) felt like the perfect time to chat with Nuria and share more about her, Tacit's mission, and the limited edition capsule.

LOHN: Tell us about Tacit.

NURIA MADREANAS: Tacit is an online gallery and art consultancy dedicated to female artists. Tacit was born out of the disparity in the art industry between women and men—where art by women accounts for a mere 2% of the art sold. As such, it is our mission to amplify female creatives in a way that is approachable to the emerging art collector. We do this through our collection of 300+ artworksas well as through our art consulting services for residential and commercial clients alike.

LOHN: We're always curious about people's spaces. Tacit lives online but how do you work IRL? Is there anything that you need in a space to work out of?

NM: I definitely need a clean, uncluttered space to fully focus and feel at ease. Filling my space with art by my favourite artists also makes me feel inspired. But I also think a change of scenery helps fuel my creativity - I'll often go work from The Ace or The Drake to keep things interesting.

LOHN: How do you decide who you represent?

NM: I try to have the Tacit collection maintain a sense of fluidity. We aim for the aesthetic to be distinctive, and for each piece to both shine on its own yet fit within the greater collection. We primarily work through referrals to find new artists and are always in search of both local and international artists looking to be a part of the community.

LOHN: When it comes to collaborations - what's your approach?

NM: We want to collaborate with brands we align with, from both a values standpoint as well as a creative standpoint. I love brand collaborations as a way to speak to a new audience and broaden the reach of our artists.

LOHN: What can you share about Tacit's collection with LOHN?

NM: We are so excited to collaborate with LOHN. I've been a long-time fan of the brand and reached out to Victoria and Kat over a year ago to see how we could potentially work together. From there, we dreamt up this collaboration in celebration of International Women's Day. It's a dream come true to work with a brand that is so well-loved, and has established themselves as one of the best at what they do. I see a lot of alignment between LOHN and Tacit in that we are both female-founded brands dedicated to sophisticated, yet accessible home decor and accessories. I can't wait for everyone to experience this collection for themselves!
