Meet The Team! International Women's Day Edition

It’s International Women’s Day! Today is a day to celebrate the amazing progressions that women have made, and look forward to all the ways we can continue to do so!

As a female founded company, we thought we’d pay extra tribute to those who make our company truly amazing. Here’s an introduction to our fabulous team members and the women who have made them the people they are today:

Victoria - Co-Founder

What has been the most rewarding thing about being a co-founder of LOHN?

"The opportunity to build relationships with so many amazing people - our staff, designers, suppliers, sales reps, stockists, entrepreneurs, it's incredible to have such a wonderful network of people to work with."

What woman in your life has made the biggest impact on you?

"My mom, Agie. She’s phenomenal - very stylish, a great dancer, a serial entrepreneur and always encourages me to follow my heart!"

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

"To stop being so hard on myself and to do the best that I can and that will be enough. It was something that my mom told me in high school, and I think about it whenever I’m being too hard on myself."

Kat - Co-Founder

What has been the most rewarding thing about being a co-founder of LOHN?

"We have built an absolute dream team! From manufacturing, to shipping, to marketing, we honestly couldn’t run the business without them and we are so lucky!"

What woman in your life has made the biggest impact on you?

"My mom has definitely made the biggest impact on me. She has raised four kids, she worked in the healthcare industry her entire life, and has taught me the meaning of kindness and generosity."

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

"It was when I was working part-time on LOHN and had a full-time job. I was told that 'even if you put in 15 minutes or 5 minutes every day into making your dreams come true, that will make a difference.' "

Meisha - Production Assistant

What is your favourite thing about working at LOHN?

"Definitely the collaboration. I get to be a part of this amazing small business where we get to come up with new ideas just for you. That’s really rewarding for me."

What woman in your life has made the biggest impact on you?

"My sister. She has a go-getter attitude - when things get rough, she always picks herself up, pivots, and keeps moving forward."

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

"Trust the process. I think sometimes we lose sight of that. Just trust that where you are now is where you’re meant to be and is preparing you for the next step!"

Braden - Production Assistant

What woman in your life has made the biggest impact on you?

"My mom. She’s always supported me 100%, she encourages me to always try and do new things, and has a positive outlook on life."

Janelle - Social Media & Marketing Intern

What is your favourite thing about working at LOHN?

"It’s really been inspiring working for Kat and Vic. I’ve always been someone who’s been fascinated by entrepreneurship stories and theirs is one that I look up to a lot."

What woman in your life has made the biggest impact on you?

"That definitely would have to be my younger sister, Olivia. She’s always got such a level head and is calm in every situation which is something that I really admire. She also never fails to make me feel super loved."

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

"It’s more of a mantra, really. It’s 'this is not going to be the hill that you die on.' A good friend of mine said that to me a while ago when I was having a hard time and it’s stuck with me ever since. It reminds me that yeah, there are going to be rough times and hills that feel like mountains. But at the end of the day, time continues to pass and you’ll make it through and you’ll be okay."

Irene - Shipping & Production Assistant

What is your favourite thing about working at LOHN?

"It feels like we’re a multi-armed person, or a cool monster (in the best way). We all pitch in where help is needed and we can each do every job. There’s so much trust with the team and it’s a really great crew to work with!"

What woman in your life has made the biggest impact on you?

"It’s actually women - they’re my sisters. We’re in touch everyday and sort of move around who’s the “older sister” and who’s the “younger” one depending on who needs advice that day and who feels like giving it and together we make a superwoman. That’s the best part about sisterhood."

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

"This is a hard question because I feel like I’ve gotten lots of amazing advice, but I’m going to quote my grandmother. Her favourite saying was ‘champagne for real friends, real pain for sham friends.’ Of course I don’t wish real pain on anyone, but I think it gets to the core of something I think is really important which is friendship which I see as a form of partnership. I think that’s one of the most important things in life."
